Methodology
How HezzyAnalytics puts players from different countries, competitions and age levels on one scale, and what the Prospect Score is made of.
Twenty points a game means something different in a U16 national league, a second-division men's league and a EuroLeague youth tournament. Raw box scores from different competitions cannot be compared, and most European prospects play in several competitions a season.
Every competition gets a strength rating from 0 to 100, learned from the players who appear in more than one competition: when the same player plays in two leagues, the difference in his output tells us how much harder one is than the other. Each season's production is translated through that index before it is compared.
One number from 0 to 100, built from six parts. Each part is a percentile against the player's own birth year and position group, so a guard is compared with guards born the same year.
Each player is matched to a playing-style archetype from his statistical profile. Subscribers can describe a roster need and get the prospects whose profile answers it. How archetypes and fit are calculated is part of what subscribers pay for, so it is not published here.
Every ranking can be opened to see why: the six parts behind the score, the level of each competition, the minutes it rests on. Players with thin samples or missing measurements are marked as such rather than hidden.
